Channel partners set to gain with GIGABYTE Technology, WPG tie-up

Gigabyte-logoMumbai, India, April 3, 2014: GIGABYTE Technology (India) Pvt. Ltd, a leading manufacturer of motherboards, has entered into a distribution tie-up with WPG C&C Computers and Peripherals (India) Private Limited, a part of the Taiwan-based WPG Holdings, Asia’s leading electronics and IT product distributor.

WPG Holdings, headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan, operates through four leading distributors of semiconductor components  – WPI group, SAC group, AIT Group, and Yosun Group. It serves as a franchise partner for near 250 world-wide suppliers. With 6,000+ staffs in over 130 sales offices around the world (about 80 in Greater China and Asia Pacific region), WPG Holdings achieved US$13.6 billion revenue (unaudited) in 2013. It has been elected as ‘The Best IC Distributor in Asia’ and ranked the top three IC component distributors worldwide.

The biggest beneficiary of the tie-up will be the two companies’ channel partners in the Do-It-Yourself (DiY) PC business, who will get access to the ideal CPU-motherboard combo solutions. This will be possible because of the fact that while GIGABYTE is the leading motherboard brand, WPG is an established distributor of Intel CPUs.

The tie-up gives GIGABYTE Technology the opportunity to leverage WPG’s strengths as a major distributor of Intel CPUs, for providing the ideal CPU-motherboard combo solution to channel partners in the Do-It-Yourself (DiY) PC business.

Also, with Intel in the process of vacating motherboard business, the tie-up gives a convenient option to partners to shift easily to the widely preferred GIGABYTE Ultra Durable motherboards. Especially because GIGABYTE offers a full range of models from the ATX form factor down to the Thin Mini-ITX form factor – all based on the varied range of Intel CPUs.

Elaborating on the new tie-up, Sunil Grewal, Director – Sales, GIGABYTE Technology (India), said, “We, at GIGABYTE, are excited with our tie-up with WPG mainly because it brings about a win-win situation for channel partners, who will now be in a better position to provide the customer-desired motherboard-CPU combo. The new tie-up also strengthens GIGABYTE commitment to working with channel partners, by maintaining the flow of sufficient consumer, gaming and corporate (vPro) motherboards into the market.”

Endorsing Grewal’s views, Rajeev Bajpai, President, WPG C&C Computers and Peripherals (India) Private Limited, said, “Our tie-up will definitely help our mutual partners grow their business, as well as give the right momentum to the PC market. GIGABYTE is one of the leading motherboard brands globally, known for the highest quality in its category. And in India, WPG has been associated with Intel, which accounts to about 70% of the CPU market. Also, the training provided by both GIGABYTE and Intel can help channel partners, offer their DiY PC customers PCs with the right configuration they are looking for.”

Additionally, GIGABYTE believes the partnership will go a long way in helping it capitalize on the relatively untapped opportunities, especially in the Class C & D cities. With this tie-up, the company looks forward to further consolidating its market position, and also reaching the breadth as well as depth in potential, but untapped markets.
