Tata DOCOMO conferred with ET Telecom Award 2014 for Excellence in Energy Management

Tata-Docomo-LogoBangalore, India, December 22, 2014: Tata DOCOMO – the unified telecom brand of Tata Teleservices – was awarded the prestigious ET Telecom Award 2014 in the category of Excellence in Energy Management, for reducing the environmental and operational impact of its infrastructure and operations across India. Tata DOCOMO’s “Project Optimus” has successfully slashed carbon footprint across 10,000 sites in India.

Project Optimus helped Tata DOCOMO to achieve an overall reduction across multiple sites by reducing:

  • Carbon footprint of over 78874 TCO2
  • Grid Power consumption of 46486 MWh
  • Diesel consumption by 12725 KL 

To meet the overall objective of completely eliminating the requirement in terms of the cost and environmental impact – for air conditioning, Tata DOCMO deployed a mix of innovative solutions which included housing indoor equipment in outdoor cabinets and using outside climate to effect the cooling process.

The fourth edition of the ET Telecom Awards was held on 5 December 2014 which brought together more than 200 top executives from the telecom fraternity and was held in New Delhi. Instituted in 2011 ET Telecom Awards celebrates excellence for highest standards of innovation, in the telecom sector. The awards follow a very stringent process of evaluation, with 16 award categories including a public poll category.
