Idea records highest RMS growth in Q4FY15 & FY15, as per TRAI

Mumbai, India, June 15, 2015: Idea Cellular maintained its track record of being the fastest growing operator in the world’s fastest growing market by recording a YoY Revenue Market Share (RMS) growth of 1.6% in Q4FY15 and 1.3% in FY15, as per the financial report released by TRAI recently.

Idea further consolidated its position as one of the top 3 operators in India by growing at double the rate of industry growth in terms of gross revenue. In Q4FY15, when the industry revenue grew at just 10.5% YoY, Idea witnessed a growth of 21% – the highest amongst all operators in India. The company’s YoY gross revenue growth was nearly 20% in FY15, as against 10.8% of the total industry revenue growth – the highest amongst all pan-India operators.

Idea’s strong growth in RMS was driven by a nearly 30% increase in Incremental Revenue Market Share (IRMS) in FY15 on a YoY basis. The company witnessed the highest growth in RMS in most of its leadership and profitable circles, in addition to increasing its market share in the new and emerging markets where Idea was a late entrant.

Speaking on the performance, Himanshu Kapania, Managing Director, Idea Cellular said, “Our commitment to grow both voice and data businesses, by investing in network infrastructure and spectrum acquisition, customer experience management, and brand building, has helped us further consolidate our position in a hyper-competitive market. Idea’s ability to remain focused on delivering shareholder value while keeping a customer centric approach, is what sets us apart.”

Idea’s global scale of operations, serving over 161 million subscribers, generating 2.06 billion minutes per day, place the company in a strong competitive position. The company recorded 33% increase in voice usage per day during FY15, which is indicative of the growth potential in voice business, in addition to witnessing robust growth in data revenue during the period. The company is now expanding its 3G network, and plans to launch LTE based 4G services, to support the growth in demand for mobile broadband services in future.
