Google’s ‘Build with AI: Code for Communities’ Connects Developers with Members of Parliament to Tackle Grassroots Challenges
Google concluded the Parliamentary Showcase for Build with AI: Code for Communities, a nationwide initiative bridging tech innovation and local governance. Organized in collaboration with The Dialogue, the finale on July 22 in New Delhi featured 12 winning developer teams presenting live AI applications directly to Members of Parliament (MPs). As the program transitions to its next phase, selected winning solutions will be piloted in real-world constituencies.
The program mobilized over 7,000 developers across 18+ Indian cities, generating over 1,000 open-source projects built on Google’s AI stack, including Gemini and Gemma. Problem statements were sourced directly from sitting MPs across four key tracks:
- Civic & Governance: Multilingual AI platforms aggregating citizen feedback to optimize local development budgets.
- Environment: Real-time pollution tracking fusing satellite, sensor, and citizen data to spot local hotspots.
- Public Health: AI command centers for rural health clinics predicting medicine stock-outs and tracking resources.
- Agriculture: Indic-language voice and SMS tools providing smallholder farmers with satellite-backed crop advice.

The winning solutions will receive support for pilot deployments in actual constituencies, setting a repeatable blueprint for how the Google tech stack can act as a force multiplier for welfare and societal development.
