Medi Assist Integrates UIDAI’s Aadhaar Offline Verification Framework to Strengthen Member Identity Protection
Medi Assist Healthcare Services Limited, India’s leading Health Benefits Administrator, announced the integration of UIDAI’s Aadhaar Offline Verification Framework into its health benefits platforms after becoming a registered Offline Verification Seeking Entity (OVSE). The integration enables secure, consent-based identity verification across key healthcare journeys, helping members access their health benefits with reduced paperwork while lowering the risk of identity misuse, impersonation, and document-related fraud.
Built on UIDAI’s Aadhaar Offline Verification Framework, the capability allows members to verify their identity quickly and securely, with explicit consent and by sharing only the information required for a specific transaction. By reducing reliance on photocopies or physical identity documents, the process helps safeguard member privacy while making verification simpler and more reliable. Location information captured during verification also helps confirm that the healthcare interaction is genuine, giving members greater confidence that their health benefits are accessed only by the rightful beneficiary.
For insurers and employers, the capability strengthens identity assurance, reduces manual documentation, supports faster claims processing, and helps create a more trusted healthcare benefits ecosystem.
The Aadhaar Offline Verification capability will be made available to TPAs, insurers, and pension funds that leverage Medi Assist’s technology platforms, extending the benefits of secure, consent-based identity verification across a wider health benefits ecosystem.
Commenting on the announcement, Satish Gidugu, Chief Executive Officer, Medi Assist Group, said: “Health insurance depends on trust — that benefits reach the people they are intended for, securely and without unnecessary friction. Our integration with UIDAI’s Aadhaar Offline Verification Framework strengthens this assurance by enabling consent-based identity verification across key healthcare journeys. It helps members protect their health benefits, supports hospitals with faster verification, and gives insurers greater confidence in every interaction. As healthcare becomes increasingly digital, trusted identity will be critical to building simpler, safer, and more reliable member experiences.”
The capability is being integrated across multiple healthcare journeys to deliver a consistent, secure, and member-friendly experience:
- Cashless Hospital Admissions: Members can complete Aadhaar Offline Identity Verification at helpdesks during hospital admissions through a secure, consent-based digital process, eliminating the need to submit or photocopy physical identity documents.
- Reimbursement Claims: Aadhaar Offline Identity Verification will soon be available through the MAven app, enabling members to verify their identity digitally during reimbursement claims and helping reduce documentation-related delays.
As India’s Digital Public Infrastructure continues to transform the delivery of essential services, trusted digital identity is expected to play an increasingly important role in healthcare. Wider adoption of Aadhaar Offline Verification across the health insurance ecosystem can strengthen identity assurance, help reduce opportunities for fraud and impersonation, and improve confidence that health benefits are delivered to the members they are intended for.
For Medi Assist, this milestone reflects its commitment to building a healthcare ecosystem where members can access their health benefits with greater confidence, security, and ease.
