Orange and École Polytechnique join forces to develop sovereign technologies in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity

Orange and École Polytechnique announce the signing of a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening research, innovation, and education in two key areas for digital sovereignty: artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

This collaboration brings together École Polytechnique’s academic expertise and Orange’s technological innovation capabilities. Together, the two institutions aim to accelerate the development of trusted digital solutions to support Europe in mastering the essential technologies for its strategic autonomy.

A partnership structured around four major ambitions

The agreement outlines several complementary areas of focus:

  • The creation of a Research Chair, supported by Orange’s patronage, dedicated to artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
  • The development of a joint center of excellence, bringing together researchers, PhD students, and engineers from both organizations around applied research projects.
  • Support for excellent in education, including internships for students and PhD candidates as part of their thesis work at Ecole Polytechnique.
  • A continued commitment to diversity, gender equality, and equal opportunity, with awareness-raising actions and promotion of scientific fields, as well as joint tutoring and mentoring programs.

The partnership will be officially presented on Wednesday, November 19 at 7:00 PM during a keynote by Laura Chaubard, President and Director General of École Polytechnique, and Christel Heydemann, Director General of Orange, as part of the Orange Open Tech 2025 event.
