Nikon launches its new S-Line lens ‘NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S’
Nikon has launched its new S-Line lens, the NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S for the Nikon Z series. The new Z-mount system, NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S is an S-Line high-performance lens that delivers superior optical performance and rendering at any shooting distance. The fast 24mm wide-angle prime lens with nine diaphragm blades are ideal for both wide-field photography and videography. It will be available at MRP of INR 86,950/-
The NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S assures sharp superior resolution throughout the shooting range from close distances to infinity across the entire frame. By effectively compensating sagittal coma flare from the maximum aperture, small point images even at the periphery are faithfully reproduced as point images. Utilizing a bright f/1.8 maximum aperture, higher shutter speed and lower ISO sensitivity can be used to capture stars as point images in astrophotography. Effective suppression of colour bleed ensures recording of beautifully sharp and clear images of a wide variety of scenes.
This wide-angle prime lens offers great movie recording performance with an extensive range of filming capabilities, realized by enhanced usability. Elimination of unsolicited noise is credited to the click-less control ring along with AF mechanism with stepping motor (STM) and diaphragm mechanism that greatly supports shooting movies and stills. Smooth and stable aperture control delivers natural exposure changes to movies. A supplementary benefit of the lens is its focus-breathing reduction capability which reduces shifting of the angle of view when adjusting focus, thereby allowing photographers to record movies with the desired composition.
By dint of the diaphragm blade unit with driving mechanism employed on the lens’ body, the camera can accurately control aperture via electronic signals. This delivers stable aperture control (AE) constantly, even during continuous shooting.
The control ring allows for comfortable filming and smooth operation. By assigning settings on the control ring, photographers can eliminate unnecessary noise when shooting a movie or portrait thereby ensuring smooth camera operation. Focus aperture and exposure compensation can also be assigned to control ring. Users have the option of rapidly changing the settings either from the control ring or through a dedicated focus mode switch that allows for manual focus operation to achieve smooth focus transitions.
Sajjan Kumar, Managing Director, Nikon India, said, “Our new range of S-Line lens, the NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S is the pinnacle in offering superior optical performance. We are confident that it will prove itself as the premier lens for professional photographers. This uniquely designed lens offers outstanding high-resolution perception and is remarkable for shooting portraits and infinity pictures. This lens’ optical performance is optimised by the Z mount’s inner mount diameter at 55mm and short flange focal distance at 16mm. It takes advantage of the Z mount system to deliver minimal distortion, beautiful bokeh, and superior point-image reproduction.”
