WeChat Users Come Together to Support Nepal Earthquake Victims

New Delhi, India, May 6 2015: In a bid to support the victims of the tragic earthquake that occurred in Nepal, over 1 lakh WeChat users have come together to extended a helping hand by donating over INR 5 Lakhs for the relief fund. WeChat users donated from their WeReward balance, an in-app virtual balance to show their support and solidarity towards those affected by the calamity. WeChat will be donating this money to the Prime Minister Relief Fund, which would then be utilized for aiding and restoring order to the devastation caused in Nepal.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Nilay Arora – Vice President Marketing & Business Development, WeChat India said, “WeChat today is one of the most widely used applications in India which empowers us to leverage the power of our users towards supporting such causes. It is humbling to see so many WeChat users come together to aid a good cause.”

WeChat being a responsible brand has always stepped forward in helping and reaching out to the citizens of the nation. In the past, WeChat donated over Rs.12 lakhs to the victims of the Jammu & Kashmir flood. WeChat also launched an Official Account in collaboration with Lybrate to create awareness about Swine Flu. Users can also keep their friends and family updated and urge them to extend a helping hand towards those who have suffered in the earthquake.
