Snapdeal launches SD Advisor Program to provide business management assistance for sellers

New Delhi, India, September 28, 2015: Snapdeal today announced the launch of the SD Advisor Program for its 200,000 strong seller community. The initiative will increase the level of engagement and hand holding for sellers on the marketplace. The SD Advisor Program is a high impact initiative for sellers to enable them to grow and scale their online business Snapdeal aims to create life changing experiences for a million sellers and the SD Advisor Program is an integral step towards achieving that goal.

Every seller, whether at the beginning of his journey to start selling on Snapdeal or an established Snapdeal seller, will be supported by a personal advisor called SD Advisor. Sellers who were a part of the 6 month pilot programme already witnessed a 50% faster rate of growth in business volumes vis-à-vis sellers who were not a part of this pilot. To facilitate this, a minimum of fifty man hours of specialised training has been provided to all SD Advisors. The highly-trained SD Advisors will provide sellers with holistic support and personalized advice to enable them to establish and grow their ecommerce business on Snapdeal.

Last month, the company announced an investment of $200 million towards building a digital ecosystem for SMBs in India and the SD Advisor programme is yet another step towards this direction. The program is focused on enabling sellers to equip them with the necessary infrastructure and help them scale their business. Understanding the nuances of operating online and utilizing the marketplace to establish robust businesses is the key responsibility of an SD Advisor. It has been designed as a holistic support system where the designated SD Advisor will provide end-to-end solutions and customized advice for entrepreneurs at various stages of their business life-cycle.

Having worked with over 200,000 sellers to establish and grow their e-commerce business on the marketplace, Snapdeal has gathered deep insights on the expected challenges and requirements for different kinds of businesses.  Snapdeal has also mapped each step of a seller’s journey from early days of pre-registration to business growth. A series of trainings and seller-facing interactions were initiated to help establish the ease of enlisting businesses on the marketplace. Identifying concerns across specific business environments, categories and stages of business operations, the SD Advisor will assist in managing and scaling-up businesses. Snapdeal has launched a wide-array of seller-enabling initiatives that will now be brought under a single umbrella of aid and knowledge-sharing under the SD Advisor Program.

The SD Advisor will help strengthen the processes for seller-on-boarding and training. He/she would also guide businesses by providing market related advice and insights gathered through data analytics, equip with consumer –engagement ideas, financial assistance for scaling-up operations on the platform and more.
