Twitter launches #PollutionFreeDelhi service with @TransportDelhi to help citizens with real-time information on public transport

New Delhi, India, January 04, 2016: Delhiites turn to Twitter for a variety of reasons — keeping up with news, making themselves heard during the state election, and expressing their love for the city they live in. Starting today, they can also use Twitter to access real-time information about public transport to plan their travel routes. As the odd-even car-driving scheme started on January 1st 2016, the public’s reliance on public transportation will increase.

To support Delhi Government’s odd-even car-driving scheme, Twitter India has partnered with Delhi Transport Department (@TransportDelhi) and the Delhi Government to launch #PollutionFreeDelhi, a service that will help users with live, real-time information on bus and metro route options with a single Tweet. With this implementation, users will receive real-time information on shortest routes, options of public transport available between these two points, fare details, traffic situation, and current weather conditions.

How does it work? Tweet your origin and destination to @TransportDelhi and you’ll get real-time information on shortest routes, options of public transport available between these two points, fare details, traffic situation, and current weather conditions. If you want to keep your location & travel details private you can send a Direct Message to @TransportDelhi and receive the information privately.

Tweet format:

#PollutionFreeDelhi origin to destination

Example:

#PollutionFreeDelhi Okhla Phase 3 to Connaught Place
