Post-Budget reaction by UST Global

Post-Budget quote from Chief Administrative Officer at UST Global Alexander Varghese:

Chief-Administrative-Officer-at-UST-Global-Alexander-VargheseThe emphasis on rural connectivity and education in Union Budget 2014-15 is a step in the right direction to achieve inclusive growth. The National Rural Internet and Technology Mission— to set up broadband in villages, in addition to promoting local manufacturing of hardware and software products—will not only empower the youth in remote areas with more learning and career opportunities but also add impetus to ehealth.

Telemedicine applications that run on robust broadband networks can help in immediate diagnoses and care needed, to say, prevent diseases from getting fatal or prevent premature births, by connecting qualified doctors in the urban areas to patients in remote areas lacking primary and advanced healthcare infrastructure.

With the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme, the government has  taken another comprehensive step towards generating awareness and improving the efficiency of delivery of services meant for girls and women, especially in the rural areas where apathy towards women prevails even today. Corporates in India have  been committed to elevating social status of women, with their various corporate social responsibility programs, and this would be a good opportunity for them to partner with the government and continue the momentum.
