Asus ExpertBook B9450 Review

Asus ExpertBook B9450 is one of the best business laptop recommendations. The Asus ExpertBook B9450 has the longest battery life ever tested on a laptop. This super portable computer is complemented by a sleek and robust frame, a sturdy 1080-piece monitor, and many safety features including a fingerprint scanner and an IR camera. An illuminated number pad embedded in the touchpad and a light bar on the front side of a laptop is other standout additions.  Its most distinctive feature is its unprecedented utilization of magnesium-lithium alloy, which is lighter and stronger than common aluminum magnesium or carbon fiber materials. It allows the ExpertBook B9450 to weigh a mere 995 grams, unheard of for 14-inch business laptops.

Asus ExpertBook B9450 Design

Asus must have to spellbind this laptop effortlessly because its brilliant lights do not match the total size of the 14-inch device. This is ascribed due to the products made of magnesium, which Asus believes to be lighter but more robust than aluminum. Asks special vibrant shades still play a game with our eyes when it comes to magic.

The look is fantastic, as an imposing pretense for reserved business people. A chrome-listed Asus logo shines like a mirror on the semi-transparent deck. Open the deck, and more blue midnight chalky surfaces are seen. Tiny plastic edges flank a 14-inch monitor, but a slinging hatch for the infrared webcam is plenty of space above the screen. The ExpertBook B9450 is raised slightly from the back when you type. This is because of the ErgoLift hook, which inclines the deck to make typing more convenient.

Asus is commended to have an HDMI port mounted on a thin laptop. Two ports of the Thunderbolt 3 and a micro-HDMI socket for a wired Internet connection via Rj-45 Ethernet are also placed on the left side of the Asus ExpertBook B9450FA. The USB 3.1 Type-A port, the Kensington lock, and the headphone-mic adapter are on the right side of the laptop.

Asus ExpertBook B9450 Display

A 14-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels is shown on the Asus ExpertBook B9450. The average luminosity is 286 cd/m2 and should be suited to outdoor shading. The distribution of light is 86 percent equal to that of our analogous units. Asus does not use PWM to monitor the business of the display.

A strong contrast ratio of 2450:1, the ExpertBook B9450 has an equally strong negro ratio of 0.12 cd/m2. This makes colors well defined and black seem profound and absolute. The monitor also has very smooth viewing angles, so objects do not distort or colors are not inverted in large angles as you view the screen.

Asus ExpertBook B9450 Performance

Asus ExpertBook B9450 is fitted with an Intel Core i7-10510U and 16 GB of RAM. However, the CPU of ExpertBook B9450 varies considerably from the CPU of other top laptops. The Asus Core i7-10510U processor is a four-core lower level Core i7 than the six-core Intel i7-10710U that can be used in portability computers such as the Dell XPS 13.

Security Features

There is an IR camera module at the top of the ExpertBook B9450 screen to allow faster and more secure facial recognition when logging in to the laptop.

The ExpertBook B9450 provides a physical camera cover within the limited space, so that the camera can be blocked directly when not in use. No more applying stickers or other objects to prevent webcam hacking.

In addition to the IR camera for face recognition login, the ExpertBook B9450 is also equipped with a fingerprint recognition sensor on the right-side wrist rest area, offering users another option for secured login. Asus ExpertBook B9450- Input Devices: Keyboard and Touchpad

The Asus ExpertBook B9450FA keyboard has a strong pressure point and is perfect for users who type a lot. It is easy to unlock the keys. The only keys that we have a touch of fear over are the delete key that we believe is a little too close to the power button. The white-lettered black keys are easily readable and the three-tier backlight guarantees that this stays in the dark setting.

The laptop comes with a large clickpad that can also display a number pad. This role works fairly well and cursor navigation is also highly reliable. Clicks are controlled efficiently.

Asus ExpertBook B9450 Battery Life

Asus ExpertBook B9450 is available in two models with one battery of 33Wh or one of 66 Wh. The laptop is supplied with a 65W charger which connects via USB-C. The design is a twin with a small brick and many cables. The overall charge lasts approximately 2 hours but fast charge takes approximately 40 minutes to charge 60 percent of the power.

Asus ExpertBook B9450 Heat

The B9450 is a perfect example for slim laptops. At 109 degrees after we played a 15 minute 1080 pp game, the underside of the magnesium alloy frame gets warmed up. Luckily, the parts that the skin hits- the middle of the keyboard and the touchpad- have remained below our 95 degree tolerance level of up to 90 degrees.

MyASUS app

ASUS laptops have always contained a multi-functional software named MyASUS that offers hardware monitoring, fan control, color calibration, Wi-Fi connection enhancements, etc. The laptop also comes with Link to MyASUS, an application for phone connections.

The hardware monitoring page provides options for problems that users often encounter, such as hard disk checking, blue screens of death, system slowdown, Wi-Fi connection issues, driver errors, system not responding, or poor battery performance. If any of these issues actually occur on the laptop, a simple click on the function image prompts the MyASUS software to automatically detect the problem and help the user solve it promptly.

Asus ExpertBook B9450 Review 7

MyASUS has another function called ASUS Splendid for monitor color displays. The three color mode options in the menu page, Normal, Vivid, and Manual, allow users to adjust display colors to their preferences more easily. The function also offers an option called Eye Care for reduced blue light. It has five different levels, so users can set to the reduction grade to something they are comfortable with.

The MyASUS software offers a Charging mode function with three modes, Full Capacity, Balanced, and Maximum Lifespan, to maintain battery power at 100%, 80%, and 60%, respectively. If users intend to use the laptop away from their desks, they can select Full Capacity 100% mode to ensure sufficient power on the go. If they’re going to be sitting at a desk for an extended period of time, then Maximum Lifespan can be selected, keeping battery power at around 60% to increase battery lifespan.

MyASUS also includes a Fan mode function for fan control. Its three options are Auto, Silent, and Turbo. Generally, users can choose Auto to reach the optimal balance, but in environments that require minimal noise, Silent mode can be chosen. When running tasks that require high performance, Turbo mode can be turned on to enable long periods of high clock rate processing and achieve better performance.

Asus ExpertBook B9450 Review 9

Laptops have limited screen size, so when users work on their laptop for an extended period, the small screen size or lack of desktop space often makes work processes difficult. But carrying a separate monitor would result in having to lug around extra weight. Hence, Link to MyASUS has an integrated Screen Extender function, turning the user’s phone into the laptop’s second display. Screen sync or extension can also be set up in Windows, so that users can have an additional screen to use.
