Leading 360 camera maker Insta360 kicked off preorders today for the Insta360 Pro, a six-lens professional camera that will empower creators to capture stunning 8K VR experiences and broadcast to the world live in immersive 360.
Bringing together best-in-class 360 and 360 3D imaging, a seamless live-streaming experience, and advanced real-time image stitching technology in one compact device, the Insta360 Pro represents a leap forward for VR filmmaking.
JK Liu, founder and CEO Insta360, said, “The VR industry needs steady content from a strong base of creators to keep growing, but before now, high-performing cameras have been overly complicated or cost-prohibitive. With the Insta360 Pro, we’re giving broadcasters and creators the tool they’ve been asking for. We can’t wait to see what they come up with.”
Offering extraordinary value for $3,499 USD, the Insta360 Pro is set to enable pioneering VR filmmakers and broadcasters around the world to explore the full potential of the evolving form.
Built for Pro VR Filmmakers
The Insta360 Pro’s watchwords are versatility and ease-of-use. Suited for everything from live 360 journalism to aerial videography, it’s designed to be an all-in-one tool for professional VR creators.
Using six 200° lenses, the Pro captures photos and video in transporting 8K 360. Creators can leverage the Pro’s onboard real-time stitching technology to capture finished 360 videos that don’t require any post-processing, or else opt for fine-grained control with Insta360’s included post-processing software or a third-party solution of their choice.
Time-lapse mode and 100 fps high-speed shooting (for 4K slow-mo) offer new ways to captivate an audience, while real-time preview on phones, laptops or headsets means creators can get the shot they want the first time.
Photos, Video and Live-streams Brought to Life in 3D
The Insta360 Pro shoots photos, video and live broadcasts in stereoscopic (3D) 360, a feature unheard of in the price range.
8K 3D photos, 6K 3D video, and 4K 3D live-streaming means filmmakers can achieve truly immersive depth and detail.
Live 360 Made Simple
With a state-of-the-art real-time image stitching algorithm and a versatile range of connectivity options – including Wi-Fi, Ethernet, HDMI and 4G —the Pro makes 360 live broadcasting easier than ever.
Users can input an RTMP address and use the Pro’s onboard processor to live-stream directly, with no intermediate server necessary.
Meanwhile, using an H.265 compression standard and cube map projection, the Pro cuts normal bandwidth needs by 60 percent.
Ready to Move
Weighing just over 2.7 pounds (1.2 kg) and sporting a removable battery, the Pro is ideal for going out on location.
Its lightweight design also lends it to drone-mounted aerial videography, and with the addition of a 4G network card, creators will be able to live-stream from anywhere with a signal.
Preorders are now open on Insta360’s new online store.
