New Delhi, India, February 11, 2015: UCWeb, the developer behind the No.1 mobile browser in India with 41% market share as of December 2014 according to StatCounter, announced today that it has taken part in the Facebook-led Internet.org initiative by launching the UC Browser for Internet.org, a special version of its flagship UC Browser that gives Reliance subscribers in India free access to a group of mobile websites including Facebook and others at no data charges. This is the first time Internet.org has launched in India in an aim to make Internet more accessible and more affordable to local users.
As part of the effort, Reliance subscribers in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Kerala will now have access to more than 30 websites and services ranging from maternal health, education, news, sports, jobs, communication to local information.
