Shanghai, China, July 16, 2015: Intex Technologies today announced its association with Jolla for incorporating the sailfish OS in their portfolio. Intex Technologies becomes the world’s first licensing partner to utilize Sailfish OS 2.0. The company plans to announce sailfish based products later in the year, working towards offering more choices in the Indian Mobile ecosystem.
Pioneers in technology, Intex is looking at this partnership as a befitting opportunity to establish itself as the first Indian smartphone player to bring in this revolutionary new OS to India. The aim for Sailfish India is to develop a unique Indian mobile ecosystem, which will lead to greater differentiation in the market meaning more choices for consumers and higher user satisfaction.
Commenting on this association, Sanjay Kalirona, Head Mobile Business, Intex Technologies said, “We are very excited to be the world’s first licensing partner for Sailfish OS and look forward to utilizing the great user experience of the next generation Sailfish OS 2.0 in our products. Together with the Sailfish India ecosystem partners we believe that we can provide an exciting new choice for smartphone lovers in India and later globally as well. With an open platform like Sailfish OS we have a magnificent opportunity to offer great locally relevant premium content to our customers, all integrated directly into the smartphone’s operating system.”
Antti Saarnio, Executive Chairman of Jolla comments: “In our BRICS country strategy we have been proceeding fastest in India, which is one the most important markets in the future of mobile. We have seen a lot of interest among Indian mobile device manufacturers, digital media houses, and operators, and they are all very keen to work with an alternative to the currently dominating mobile operating systems. India needs and deserves its own regional mobile ecosystem, an open platform, which supports local Indian services and businesses.”
This new association raises the bar of innovating high end products both for Jolla and Intex technologies. The Finland base of the company (Jolla) takes us back to the strong association the Indian market has had with companies of this origin.
