Bangalore, India, July 29, 2014: eBay Inc. today announced the recruitment of around 100 graduates, largely from tier 1 engineering colleges. Of these recruits, a majority will work with the PayPal India Development Center and the remaining with the eBay Product Development Center – at their Chennai and Bangalore offices.
The fresh recruits are currently undergoing a gold-standard induction programme, which is a 5-week-long boot camp – unique to the IT industry. The first week of the program called ‘UPLOAD’ includes campus-to-corporate workshops for skill building, customer-centric design workshops, programming exercises, and innovative real-time problem solving projects and presentations. This is coupled with fun activities for team building such as ice-breaker sessions, solving murder mysteries, and quad biking. The new employees have been grouped into cross-functional teams that will offer solutions for some of today’s toughest industry concerns and customer problems. Their ideas will be presented to the top management, with the most viable and effective solutions being passed on for further development. This not only provides an opportunity for fresh graduates to come up with ideas for practical problems and real issues, but also helps in boosting their confidence, improving their communication skills, and exposing them to top management right in the first few weeks of employment.

PayPal India has also recruited more than 30% of its new hires this year from the group of graduates who had previously interned with the company. PayPal’s intensive internship programme has helped the organization springboard new employees into the company as they are already accustomed to its culture and are aware of the opportunities it provides, well before they accept the offer.

The graduates will undergo a rigorous four-week integrated learning programme after the first week of UPLOAD, which complements their transition from campus life to corporate career.
