New Delhi, India, January 7, 2016: Uber has announced first-of-its-kind invitation-only hackathon in India. Set to take place in Bangalore on 12th January and in Delhi on 15th January, this developer-focused event will include everything from a preview of what’s ahead in 2016, insights from Uber’s API team and vision for the API in India. The last date to send entries is the midnight of 9th January, 2016. Developers interested to code at the hackathon can fill out this form (http://t.uber.com/hackindia).
As part of the hackathon, Uber is opening up seats for 10 developers and giving them the opportunity to compete amongst some of the leading startups and tech companies of India by building a prototype integrating Uber with their app. That’s right, developers get the opportunity to create a new app, right there at the venue.
“We’re excited to meet with the developers and engineering teams of some of the best startups and tech companies in India. We look forward to the ideas that are going to come out of this one-of-a-kind hackathon.” – Dmitry Shevelenko, Head of Business, Uber Developer Platform.
Saad Ahmed, Business Development Lead, Uber India, said, “About a year ago we announced our first API integration in India with Zomato and since then, it’s been great to see how far the Uber API and developer community has come. Startups and companies from all verticals have integrated the Uber API in order to provide a seamless experience to their users. The goal of the Uber API is to empower the developer community to build moving experiences and we have been blown away by the creativity and ambition of India’s vibrant and rich developer community.”
In addition, members of Uber API team will be on hand for real-time support and Q&A. At the end of the day, developers will have the chance to privately demo their prototype to the Uber team or present to all attendees. If selected, the developers could be eligible to win a $500 Uber credit prize and a bag full of Uber swag.
